Question:

Asalaamualaikum, Is Nandos Halaal in New Zealand?

Answer:

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

نحمده ونصلى على رسوله الكريم

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

We have received email correspondence from Nandos New Zealand informing us that Nandos is not Halaal nor does it claim to be Halaal. They do claim to have Halaal certified chicken however to serve Halaal certified chicken is not enough to classify an outlet to be Halaal.

With regards to the issue of chicken we (Yourmuftionline) only approve Halaal hand slaughtered chicken. This is in conformity with Islaamic Jurisprudence as well as the only accepted method of slaughtering according to many contemporary Ulama across the globe.

We reproduce hereunder the email correspondence:

Hi Garth,

I would like to know if any of your nandos outlets in New Zealand is 100 % Halal certified or not.

Thank you.”

“Hi Musayyab Sahib

All of our chicken product is sourced from halaal certified suppliers.

Our restaurants are not halaal certified and we make no claim to have halaal status.

Regards
Garth Parker”

And Allaah Ta’ala knows best
